“Traditionally, where women, people of colour and specific ethnic backgrounds, gays, and lesbians have been concerned, different means unequal.”
Dana Dawson, Campus Women’s Centre Board Member, 1998
The Campus Collective Centre (CCC) is a student-led levy group safe space located on the University of Lethbridge campus that works to offer resources and support.
- We provide educational events, engagement opportunities, awareness campaigns, referral services, support for student-led projects, and free sexual & menstrual health products.
- We work to foster an environment wherein individuals may seek empowerment, guidance, and resources while feeling recognized and validated.
Our History
- Began in the 70s as a student organized group
- Gained levy status in 1998, officially becoming the “Campus Women’s Centre”
- Has faced much criticism and adversity over the years, but has fought to keep its place, fight inequality, and provide needed resources to the community
- Changed names in 2020 to address rising concern that the Centre’s title was a barrier for gender non-conforming individuals, now the “Campus Collective Centre”
Our Values
We recognize the ways in which racism, sexism, classism, heterosexism, ableism, ageism, and religious discrimination operate not only in society but on our campus as well.
At the CCC we are dedicated to changing this narrative by actively advocating against these structures of power and oppression. Our space, therefore, is a space that does not tolerate any form of discrimination.
The CCC is for the students and by the students, and we are constantly working to ensure necessary resources are available for all students.
The CCC also believes in the culture of calling people into educational conversations, rather than a call out culture.
We strongly believe in the power of lived experiences as well as the nature of grassroots social movement and informed critical perspectives.
As such the CCC is dedicated to ensuring we utilize our position as a student group on campus and our social platform to advocate for human rights and equality.
